New Lidl £8 'atmospheric' lamp similar to £55 John Lewis offer out Thursday Shoppers who like the look of John Lewis' versions could save £47 by opting for Lidl's budget-friendly alternative Lidl is bringing out a new "atmospheric" lamp on Thursday, August 20, that looks similar to a version on sale at John Lewis. The supermarket regularly updates its Special Buy deals every Thursday and Sunday, and the next batch of items to land in stores includes various homeware items. The supermarket's new LED Table Lamp with Touch Function costs £7.99 and will be coming to stores across the UK in a few days. For those who like the look of John Lewis' Cara Glass Touch Lamp, but would prefer to stick to a budget, Lidl's version may be a more wallet-friendly option. John Lewis' version looks similar in shape and design to Lidl's £7.99 lamp, with both featuring a silver base, frosted glass and cylindrical appearance. However, by opting for Lidl's £7.99 version, John Lewis shoppers could save around £47. The John Lewis lamp comes in a pack of two for £55, meaning each lamp is worth £27.50. However, this would still be around £19.50 more than buying from the supermarket. In the product description on Lidl's website, the supermarket says its £7.99 lamp has a touch-sensitive lamp base for switching it on and off. It comes with three brightness levels and a metal base with a matt-nickel finish. Lidl adds: "Frosted glass shade for atmospheric, warm light. Includes LED light bulb with an integrated step dim function. Power cable: 1.6m. For indoor use only. Size: W10 x H25.5cm. Three-year warranty." As for John Lewis, the product description reads: "We like how the opal glass shades on these petite table lamps diffuse the light and create a warm glow. Their chrome base is designed with touch functionality to offer three light levels. Tap it once to turn on the light, again to make it brighter and a final time to turn it off. Perfect for setting the right ambience in your space and conveniently supplied as a pair." In the reviews on John Lewis' website, one shopper said: "Look expensive and are very unobtrusive on the bedside tables." A second said: "Very chic looking." A third said: "Love the different atmospheres one can create." However, a fourth wrote: "The lamps worked well for about three weeks until one of them just stopped working." As well as a White Luxury Renforcé Duvet Cover Set with a blue watercolour floral pattern for £11.99.
