Essex Police raced to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome near Woodham Ferrers, Chelmsford, this afternoon, where it is understood there had been an "air incident" during the Stow Maries Air show. Officers were first called shortly before 2.25pm on Sunday, August 16. The sole occupant of the aircraft has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Members of the public have been asked to avoid the area to allow responders to work, report Essex Live. The aerodrome confirmed the incident and said the on site museum is now closed to the public. Police have meanwhile told those attending to follow the instructions of organisers and the emergency services. Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome said: "Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome can confirm that there has been an air incident during our Air Show. "More information will follow shortly. In the meantime, the Museum is closed to the public" An Essex Police spokesperson said: "Those attending the event are urged to follow the instructions of organisers and emergency service personnel. "The public are asked to please avoid the area to allow responders the space to work at the scene."
