A 12-year-old British girl who vanished for days on a family holiday to Japan has been found safe, local police have said.
Carmelita Lakdesha Paul arrived in Tokyo for a holiday with her parents and older brother on July 21.
According to local police, the 12-year-old disappeared after leaving her family's rental accommodation in Tokyo's Kamata district alone on the morning of August 13.
Police spent more than two days searching for Carmelita before she turned up unharmed at a police phone box in Yokohama at around 8pm on Saturday.
The student is said to have told officers that she left to visit a famous anime location. She reportedly spent time in internet cafes, but eventually began to miss her parents, reports Japan Today.
