That same year also marked Hong Kong’s best performance at the Olympics in history. On the economic front, the sports industry and adjacent sectors generated HK$46 billion in value added at basic prices. The term refers to an industry’s total sales revenue at base prices minus the cost of raw materials and supplies, and before the government applies taxes or subsidies to the final price.
