BHOPAL: “Ask him to collect left over of his wife. But tomorrow. Let me die in peace right now,” was the final message of 34-year-old model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma sent to her sister-in-law minutes before she allegedly died by suicide, according to a CBI chargesheet filed in a Bhopal court on Monday. The CBI has chargesheeted Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired district judge, in connection with her death. The agency has accused them of subjecting her to alleged mental and psychological torture during their six-month marriage. The chargesheet invokes provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to cruelty by a husband or his relatives, abetment of suicide and common intention. The 31-page chargesheet, along with hundreds of pages of annexures, details the events leading up to Twisha's death on May 12. The CBI said it is still awaiting complete forensic extraction of data from Twisha's and Samarth's phones, as well as CCTV DVR footage from Giribala's home in Bhopal. The post-mortem examination and a subsequent review by a board of medical experts from AIIMS Delhi concluded that Twisha died by suicide. "The cause of death is asphyxia as a result of ante-mortem hanging, which is suicidal in manner, produced by the examined ligature material, the gymnastic belt with a ring. No other injuries of medico-legal importance found on the body of the deceased suggestive of assault/scuffle prior to death," the chargesheet said. According to the CBI, the message to Twisha's sister-in-law Rashi Abrol was sent at 9.36pm on May 12, shortly before she went to the terrace. The agency said the message came after a series of calls and messages in which Twisha allegedly spoke about problems with her husband. Earlier that day, Samarth visited a doctor for a family consultation after being persuaded by his mother. Twisha later went to a beauty parlour. When she returned, she allegedly wanted to join Samarth and Giribala, who were walking outside their home, but they were not keen on her joining them, according to the chargesheet. The CBI said the digital trail began at 7.51pm when Twisha called Abrol and alleged that Samarth was pressuring her to transfer a Rs 20 lakh investment into the Chinese stock market. She had refused to do so, the agency said. More than 34 attempted calls and exchanges between the two families followed that evening as Twisha's mother tried to contact Samarth and Giribala, according to the chargesheet. The situation allegedly became tense around 9.20pm when Twisha called Abrol again while crying. She allegedly told her that she had asked Samarth to sleep in a separate bedroom because of her "back pain". The call ended abruptly after an alleged violent outburst from Samarth. When Abrol called back at 9.29pm, Twisha was reportedly sobbing before the call was disconnected. Seven minutes later, at 9.36pm, Twisha sent her final message to Abrol: "Ask him to collect left over of his wife. But tomorrow. Let me die in peace right now." CCTV footage from the house allegedly showed Twisha going alone towards the terrace at around 9.40pm. A minute later, she made a final WhatsApp call to her father. During the call, Twisha was crying and allegedly told her father that Samarth had become "very aggressive and violent". She also asked her family to come to Bhopal immediately. Her final outbound call was to her mother, Rekha Rani Sharma, at 10.05pm. Twisha again spoke about Samarth's alleged aggression before the call ended. Rekha Rani then made several calls to her daughter, but there was no response. She also tried to contact Samarth and Giribala, but neither responded immediately, according to the agency. The CBI said Giribala did not answer the calls until 10.10pm. Rekha Rani told her that Twisha had been crying heavily. CCTV footage allegedly showed Giribala leaving her room at 10.16pm to check on her daughter-in-law. After finding the ground floor empty, Giribala called Twisha's phone at 10.18pm, but there was no response. Five minutes later, CCTV footage allegedly showed Samarth and his mother heading towards the terrace, where Twisha was found hanging by a "gymnastic belt". Samarth then took her to AIIMS-Bhopal and told authorities that she had hanged herself at home at around 10.20pm, according to the FIR. Doctors at AIIMS declared Twisha brought dead, following which police registered a medico-legal case, the FIR said. The CBI investigation is continuing, with the agency awaiting the complete forensic examination of the phones and CCTV DVR.
