The shooting on Tuesday comes just months after a separate school shooting incident in the country in which three students were killed and 20 others were injured
A high school student fatally shot a class mate before killing himself, a local official has said. Two other people sustained injuries.
The alleged shooter managed to sneak in a .45-calibre pistol into a classroom at the school in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines on Tuesday, August 18.
Zamboanga city mayor Khymer Adan Olaso said the suspect apparently wore a body camera to livestream the attack at the high school on the Ateneo de Zamboanga University campus.
A video, circulated by local media, was seemingly live-streamed on Facebook.
The suspect fired on a teacher who was seated at the table, but missed.
The suspect subsequently moved to another classroom and shot a student who later died, Mr Olaso told a local radio station.
The incident comes two months after a high school shooting in the central region killed three students and injured 20 others.
The Philippines has relatively strict gun ownership regulations, including background checks and psychological evaluation requirements.
Illegal firearms remain in circulation, however.
