US President Donald Trump has paused tariffs against his neighbour at the 11th hour.
Trump paused the tariffs against Canada that were scheduled to take effect on Wednesday, August 19.
He said the decision to pause tariffs for three days is subject to the finalisation of documents around the Keystone XL Pipeline.
He wrote in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday: "I have paused the 50% Tariffs against Canada, that were scheduled to kick in tomorrow morning for a three-day period, based on the fact that Canada and the U.S.A., subject to the finalization of documents, have a DEAL!
"The great Keystone XL Pipeline, long ago killed by Sleepy Joe Biden, may be awoken from the grave!
"Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"
The US leader subsequently shared what appeared to be an AI-generated image of him hauling a pipe from the ground. On the ground sits a tombstone that reads: "BURIED BY BIDEN".
The Keystone XL pipeline was a planned 1,200-mile project intended to move up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil from Alberta, Canada, to Nebraska, US, per day.
It has been a focal point in North American politics and environmental debates.
