Popular sun cream declared 'high risk' now 'banned from sale' in UK The products have been rejected at the UK border A popular brand of sun cream has been branded "high risk". The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a notice for the product, stating it was rejected at the UK border. Bubble Cosmetics Sunscreen Pack has been given a "high risk" rating by the OPSS. It said: "The product presents a risk due to inadequate labelling and traceability information. "Multiple mandatory cosmetic labelling requirements have not been met, including omissions relating to sunscreen use instructions and product traceability. As a result, consumers may not have sufficient information to use the product appropriately, and effective regulatory traceability is impaired." It added: "The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (‘the Cosmetics Regulation’)." As a result, the products have been rejected for entry into the UK and therefore cannot be sold to customers. The sun cream came from the United States. Bubble is sold in a range of UK retailers, including Boots and Asos. The affected items are a range of Bubble sun cream products packaged in yellow cardboard boxes. The Mirror has contacted Bubble for comment. Earlier this month, a brand of wet wipes was urgently recalled due to contamination risks. The OPSS explained that the wipes may be microbiologically contaminated, meaning they could cause adverse skin reactions. FreshWipes Intimate Unscented Wipes were sold on the FreshWipes website, Amazon UK, TG Jones (formerly WH Smith), TikTok Shop and QVC. It is described as a 10-pack of moist wipes, which are also sold in multipacks and in self-care bundles. The OPSS said: "It has been identified that affected batches may be microbiologically contaminated, with the preservative system not performing as required. "This could result in users experiencing adverse skin reactions. The affected batches do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (the ‘Cosmetics Regulation’). "The product has been recalled from end users by FreshWipes. Consumers who have an affected batch should stop using the product immediately. Contact your place of purchase for instructions on return or disposal of product and refund/redress." FreshWipes said: "Check the batch number printed on the back of the pack. If it reads LOT 0926 or LOT 0515, the product is part of this recall. "What to do: Please stop using the affected product immediately. If you have purchased Freshwipes Intimate Wipes from Batch LOT 0926 or LOT 0515, please contact our customer support team at [email protected] with a photo of your remaining packs clearly showing the LOT number. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and remain committed to the safety and quality of our products."
