Prince Harry's return reason 'revealed' as Meghan Markle 'offered huge UK role'
The reason behind the Duke and Duchess' impending move back to the UK from California in the US is reportedly centred around a career opportunity for Meghan Markle
The real reason Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to return to the UK has reportedly been revealed - less than a day after the shock move was announced.
It was revealed on Wednesday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be returning home this September, and that they had enrolled their children Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor in a British school. The move was communicated to King Charles III only on Sunday, it is understood, and until now there was no indication as to what it had been predicated by.
It has now been reported that the reason behind the decision came after Meghan received an offer for a role in an upcoming British-based project.
News.com.au reports, citing entertainment sources, that the Duchess has been offered an undisclosed role in the upcoming project. Further details are yet to be shared about the position, and follows news that the couple are expected to remain financially independent and continue their commercial and charitable work.
Harry is not expected to undertake official royal duties. They are retaining their home in Montecito, California as well as their holiday home in Portugal.
The King, who is still living with cancer, was first made aware of the move on Sunday, only three days before it was made public, but is understood to welcome the opportunity to see more of the family both in a private and personal capacity.
However, the decision is particularly striking given Harry's previous concerns about bringing his family back to Britain as he does not automatically get taxpayer-funded security while in the UK.
The Duke has spent years challenging the decision in the courts over his security arrangements after losing the protection when he ceased to be a working royal and moved overseas.
