Members of the public could spot actors playing armed police alongside simulated emergency responses around the Houses of Parliament this coming weekend.
Production business Bad Wolf, behind television series including Doctor Who, His Dark Materials and Industry, will film scenes across the parliamentary estate and on the River Thames on 22 and 23 August.
Specialist vehicles will also feature in the area during production, with clear warning signs displayed to inform the public that filming is taking place.
Bad Wolf is reportedly working on a Netflix adaptation called The Lords’ Day, centred on a siege inside the famous building. Adapted from the novel by Michael Dobbs, the drama is set during the State Opening of Parliament.
The cast includes Damon Idris, Harry Lawtey, Arsema Thomas, Sophie Willan, Gemma Whelan and Timothy Spall.
A plot synopsis reads: “On the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Damson Idris) finds himself inside the Palace of Westminster amid a lockdown.
“As a hostage siege escalates, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival where not everyone will emerge alive.
“Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s savior? Adapted from a novel by Michael Dobbs (House of Cards), this is a fast-paced action thriller set in the heart of British power.”
A UK Parliament spokesperson said: “A licensed film production is taking place on and around parts of the parliamentary estate over the weekend.
“Members of the public may see actors portraying armed police officers, specialist vehicles and simulated incidents as part of the filming.
“These activities are part of a controlled and authorised production, and there is no incident or emergency on the parliamentary estate.”
Filming has previously taken place inside the Houses of Parliament for productions including Darkest Hour, Suffragette and Anatomy Of A Scandal.
