Cyclist killed in 'random unprovoked attack' while on bike ride was 'much-loved son' A man and a woman are in custody after George Glover was attacked in Leicester A "much-loved son and brother" who died following an assault in Leicester has been named. Tributes are being paid to George Glover after he died following the alleged attack which took place on Narborough Road at around 6.30am on Monday (August 17). Leicestershire Police said Mr Glover died on Thursday (August 20) from injuries sustained in the attack. He was 27-years-old. The incident was reportedly brought to the attention of officers on Wednesday (August 19) by a member of his family, who stated he was being treated for life-threatening injuries at the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, reports LeicestershireLive. Police enquiries determined Mr Glover had been punched as he cycled along Narborough Road, close to the junction with Noel Street. In a statement released today (Friday, August 21), Mr Glover’s family said: "George was a much-loved son and big brother to his three siblings. His loss is already felt so deeply. "He was a hardworking, focused young man who worked so hard to get a job he loved and enjoyed. George lived a simple live. He went to work then came home to enjoy his gaming or putting bike parts together. He very much kept himself to himself. "His siblings looked up to him and as soon as he arrived home, the banter with them would start. He was loving, loyal and had a good sense of humour. He enjoyed Anime, Lego and Pokémon cards. "He had a tough start in life with physical challenges but we’re so proud of the young man he’d become. We know there are so many people who’ll miss him as he was held in such high regard." A 31-year-old man and 39-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit murder. They both remain in custody at this time. Detective inspector Kevin Hames, said: "From what we’ve been able to determine, this was a violent and unprovoked attack that’s sadly led to a young man losing his life. "We owe it to his family to identify those responsible and bring them to justice – and I’m appealing for public help ensuring this happens. "Narborough Road is a busy route in and out of the city. Please cast your mind back to Monday morning. Were you there? What did you see? I believe there are people who can help but have not yet come forward. Any information or footage you can provide could assist with our investigation." Information can be passed onto the force by calling 101 and quoting reference 26*496814.
