Man rushed to hospital after 'collision with car and pedestrian' at Asda Emergency services were called to the Asda supermarket in Bangor, County Down following a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian A man has been taken to hospital after he was hit by a car outside an Asda supermarket. The incident took place at the Asda superstore in Bangor, County Down, in eastern Northern Ireland. Emergency services including Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were all called to the scene. The crash took place just before 1pm yesterday in the Market Square area of the seaside city, which is located 13 miles away from Belfast. The victim was a male pedestrian and he has been taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, Belfast Live reports. The area was cordoned off while enquiries were carried out but has since reopened. A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police in Bangor are investigating the report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in the Market Square area of the city at approximately 12.50 pm today, Saturday 22 August. "Officers and colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, and the male pedestrian was later transferred into the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service for treatment of injuries. Part of the road was closed for a time as emergency services dealt with the scene, but has now reopened." Anyone with information about or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to get in touch with the police, quoting incident number 608 of August 22.
