Dog missing for nearly three weeks saved by mountain rescue team Teddy was missing on England's third-highest peak for three weeks before his barking was overheard by volunteers who brought him back safely to his relieved owner A dog has been rescued on a mountain nearly three weeks after he went missing during a walk. Teddy vanished on England's third-highest peak, Helvellyn, in the Lake District on August 2, sparking a frantic search. Volunteers heard barking on Friday and finally found Teddy stuck in Dry Gill, a steep ravine. Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) and other volunteers helped Teddy off the mountain and were staggered to find, though he lost weight, had no significant injuries. A vet has assessed Teddy and now the pooch has been reunited with his relieved owner. KMRT, a rescue team based in the Cumbria market town, is funded through donations, and relies on the support of volunteers like those who found stranded Teddy. KMRT said in a Facebook update on Saturday: "The team attended and reached Teddy, who thankfully had no obvious injuries, although after nearly three weeks on the fell, he had understandably lost a considerable amount of weight. He was given a small amount of food before being safely secured in a rucksack for the journey back down to Swirls car park. "Around three and a half hours after the callout began, the team met Teddy’s owner and the original informant at Swirls, where Teddy was handed back to his very relieved owner for onward travel to the vets. "A remarkable outcome after nearly three weeks on Helvellyn, and a huge well done to everyone who kept searching and never gave up on Teddy." Photos shared by the KMRT showed a calm looking Teddy being placed into a backpack and carried down the mountainside and back to safety. Images showed the spectacular vistas before the team made it down the trail. One snap also showed Teddy next to his missing poster that was placed on a bridge shortly after he went missing. KMRT said the rescue team of seven people took about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
