China calls off ambitious ice-hunting moonshot a day before flight
China’s Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on Sunday cancelled a planned Monday moonshot launch. The mission plan for Chang'e 7 calls for it to send a lander to a region near the Moon’s South Pole, in a location thought likely to contain ice in deep craters. The lander carries two other vehicles: a wheeled rover, and a hopper.
Beijing Robot Games: humanoids take on sprints, football and tai chi
More than 2,000 robots are taking part in the Beijing Robot Games, where humanoid machines race, play football and perform tai chi. At the National Speed Skating Oval on Sunday, Tiangong Omni-04 won the 400-metre race for smaller robots in 45.66 seconds, while others fell or stopped before reaching the finish. The five-day competition is designed to test skills that robots may eventually need in real-world settings.
