Man charged with alleged domestic violence murder of his partner

NSW Police have charged a 47-year-old man with the murder of his former partner, who they allege he killed in December 2025. Police say they arrested the man, who they say was in a relationship with Megan Tangye at the time of her death, after they saw the final post-mortem examination results. What's next? A man has been charged with the alleged murder of his former partner, eight months after police allege he killed her on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. Megan Tangye, 31, was taken to hospital from her home on Gore Street in Port Macquarie at 11:40am on December 27, 2025. She died hours later from multiple serious injuries. A 47-year-old man was arrested on a houseboat which was moored on the Hastings River in Port Macquarie on Monday morning. Port Macquarie Hastings Council rangers also seized a dog which was on board the vessel. The 47-year-old man was charged with murder (DV) and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV). Police Detective Inspector Mark Rogers said police would allege that Ms Tangye suffered blunt-force trauma which resulted in her death. "The cause of death in the findings was as a result of blunt-force trauma which is believed to be as a result of an assault," he said. Inspector Rogers said officers investigating the case had been waiting on findings made by the medical examiner. "There has been an extensive investigation which has related to canvassing, speaking to witnesses and members of the community," Inspector Rogers said. "Suspicious deaths are very complex investigations, there was an ongoing investigation, which we have to rely on evidence, "Whilst there were some preliminary findings for the post-mortem, we only very recently received the actual final findings and that information has been reviewed and we've acted on that." Detective Inspector Rogers said the investigation had been traumatic for Ms Tangye's family. "Obviously it's a very sad time for them and it's been a very difficult process and we acknowledge it's a very traumatic time for them," he said.
