Woman, 22, passed out from miscarriage twice after 'doctors said bleeding was normal' A 22-year-old woman said she has been left 'scared to get pregnant in the future' after she claimed a hospital refused to give her a scan during her miscarriage A young woman who had a miscarriage at home claimed doctors told her bleeding was normal and she'd have to wait five weeks for a scan. Jodie Evans, 22, found out she was five weeks pregnant with her first child on June 10, 2026, but started experiencing painful bleeding at the end of July - seven weeks into her pregnancy. The woman, from Wolverhampton, contacted doctors but claimed they said there were no appointments until she was 12 and a half weeks pregnant and told her that it would be ok to wait. Jodie added that all her pregnancy symptoms had "gone overnight". The 22-year-old booked a private scan at 10 weeks and was told the baby had no heartbeat and died at six weeks and six days. Jodie said her miscarriage last two weeks and she "passed out twice" in that time. The 22-year-old jewellery shop worker said: "The doctors told me a scan was unneeded. I kept getting declined so I booked a private one at 10 weeks to ease my brain. "All my pregnancy symptoms had gone overnight when I started worrying, like my sore breasts and cravings and I asked my midwife as it said online it could be an indicator of a miscarriage but she said that because I felt fine she won’t give me a scan." Jodie shared her anger that she and her partner Brad, 22, found out about the miscarriage through a private scan. She said: "I had to pay to find this out which I think is horrible. If I had been allowed a scan before this at eight weeks it would have reduced my risk of infection." The private doctors passed Jodie's details onto her local hospital who said they would ring her within the next 24 hours but Jodie claimed they never called. Jodie said her health took a turn for the worse on August 4 as she started to feel unwell and the pain intensified. She said: "I went to the emergency department after ringing the doctors and they told me that I was having a miscarriage but they said it will happen on its own. "They told me I couldn't have any painkillers and it would be like a heavy period. Then two days later I started having contractions which they didn't warn me about. When I felt all the pain and saw the blood I knew something was wrong and I was just neglected." Jodie claims her miscarriage lasted around two weeks and during that time she fell unconscious twice. She said: "I passed out twice at one point and my boyfriend called the ambulance, but they said it was not an emergency. I was sweating and I was shivering, I thought I had an infection. "I was bleeding a lot and I thought I was dying and I kept screaming out in pain. The pain and everything lasted around two weeks. Now it is still there but I feel numb to it all now and I feel like I can't trust the hospital. "It was my first pregnancy and I was scared. The hospital basically told me to get over it and sleep it off but the pain was traumatic physically and mentally. I had to go about my day to day life in a lot of pain. Since then it has all been a bit of a shock and now I am so scared to get pregnant in the future."
