Harry and Meghan 'not guaranteed royal Christmas invite' to Sandringham as Firm put on united front A royal source has claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may not be invited to the Royal Family’s Sandringham plans in December Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not guaranteed an invitation to spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham, a royal source has claimed. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly just days away from moving back to the UK, after living in California for six years. Harry and Meghan left Britain in 2020 after making the shocking decision to quit their senior roles in the Firm, and become personally and financially independent of the monarchy. It was revealed last week that the Sussex family are now moving back to Harry’s home country for an extended period of time. While it is not known where the family will reside, it is believed Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, have both been enrolled in UK schools to start the school year in September. Harry and Meghan will not be resuming their roles as working royals, but it is believed the Duke will continue to work at mending his fractured relationship with his father King Charles. Over recent years, Harry has seen the King during trips to London, but is believed to not have had any contact with his estranged brother Prince William. As a result of the tumultuous relationship Harry and Meghan still have with much of the Firm, it has been said that the Sussex’s are not guaranteed an invitation to private family events. Each year, the Royal Family spend time together over the summer period in Balmoral and in Sandringham over the Christmas break, as well as attending private events such as Easter Sunday in Windsor at the King’s personal invitation. With these annual events usually including all the major royals, it is believed the strained relationships may prove to be an obstacle if the King wishes to invite Harry and Meghan to family functions. A royal source told the Telegraph that it is simply “way too early” to confirm when and whether the Sussexes would be included in any public family events once they were based in Britain, although it is believed they will not attend official events. Meanwhile, The Times reported that, while the King is “naturally pleased” with the move, which will allow him to see his younger son and grandchildren more regularly “in a private and personal capacity,” his core focus remains fixed on the future of the Royal Family. The Royal Family are currently enjoying the last days of their summer break in Balmoral, where they were reportedly all together when news of Harry and Meghan’s UK return broke. Princess Kate was pictured on Sunday driving to church with her children, as the Wales family put on a united front in the wake of the Harry and Meghan news. Kate was joined by her sons, Prince George and Prince Louis, her daughter, Princess Charlotte and her husband, Prince William, who was driving the car, as the family headed to Crathie Kirk church in Aberdeen. They were joined at the service by the King and Queen, who used a separate car to head to church. In another car, Princess Anne was pictured, joined by her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, who was behind the wheel, while the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Lady Louise Windsor sat in the back. Kate, who was beaming upon arrival, looked effortlessly elegant for the family gathering in a tailored tweed jacket with a high-neck white collar shirt underneath. Arriving at the church, troops from Balaklava Company, 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, provided a guard of honour. Royal sources told the Mirror on Thursday that William is adamant there can be "no way back" for Harry and Meghan to re-join the Royal Family - amid the drama of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's return to the UK. Royal sources have told how the Prince of Wales is "completely united" with the King in not allowing Harry and Meghan to achieve a 'half in, half out' role within the monarchy, after spending years railing against the institution. Friends of the couple have said while they "cannot forgive" the Sussexes for their hurtful accusations against the Firm, they are determined to "look forward to the future".
