Authorities are said to be looking into a a possible murder-suicide, with the man who took his own life in Cork understood to have travelled there by bus after the body of a woman was discovered at a flat in Limerick. Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a law graduate from Brazil, was found dead in the flat on Lower Cecil Street early on Friday. Gardai had wanted to talk to Ms Pereira Rosa's husband, Brazilian national Judismar Batista. It's understood he was the man found dead 60 miles away in Cork on Friday, CorkBeo reports. Friends contacted the authorities after Ms Pereira Rosa failed to meet them outside her apartment. Emergency services gained entry to the flat and discovered her body. She had been living in Limerick, where she was employed as a cleaner and was originally from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. A murder investigation was launched immediately as evidence of a violent struggle was found at the scene, with Ms Pereira Rosa having sustained fatal stab wounds. A post-mortem examination later confirmed that she had died violently. On Friday Gardai in Cork were alerted after the body of a man, believed to be a foreign national, was spotted on rocks close to Blackrock Castle. It's understood the man was known to Ms Pereira Rosa. Emergency personnel were informed that a man's body had been spotted by a member of the public at around 7 pm on Friday. The area was sealed off with officers maintaining a presence at the scene following the discovery. Members of the Irish Coast Guard were called in, and they recovered the body with the assistance of Gardaí. A Garda spokesperson confirmed to CorkBeo on Saturday: "Gardaí responded to reports of the discovery of the body of an unidentified male at Blackrock, Co. Cork, on the evening of Friday 21st August 2026."
