Nicollette Sheridan taken to hospital after nasty dog accident gives her third degree burns Actress Nicollette Sheridan has shared that she is suffering from third degree rope burns after an accident involving her dog, telling fans that she had to go to the emergency room Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan landed herself in hospital after a nasty accident with her dog left her with third degree rope burns around her ankle. In an Instagram video, the 62-year-old explained that she was playing with her dog when the accident happened, and was distracted at the time. "Good morning. I'd like to share a story with you about a little mishap that occurred and the lesson that came along with it," she said to the camera. "So about five days ago, I was distracted. I was upset by others being rude. I took it to heart and was not present, I was stuck in my head and trying to understand other people's behaviour. "And in doing that, I took my dog, who weighs 100lbs, and was playing ball with him. And he's young so I have a very long line attached to him, so if he does take off, I can somehow get him back. And I was throwing the ball and lost in thought and didn't realise that the rope had wrapped itself around my ankle. "So I've got a pretty good arm, if I do say so myself, and I threw the ball really hard and pretty far and he took off like a bat out of hell. All of a sudden, I felt a tickle around my ankle and realised the rope was wound around it and Huckleberry was almost at the end of the line. And so I yelled, but of course he was in mid flight after that ball and there was no stopping him, and I had no time to release the rope so that my foot could be free." The actress, who played Edie Britt on Desperate Housewives and Alexis Carrington in a 2018 reboot of Dynasty, remained stoic as she recounted how badly she was hurt when she got caught up in the rope: "All I could do was brace myself for a lot of pain and a bad injury. Third degree rope burns but luckily I have the magic remedy. It's a big lesson. I just didn't understand at first why that happened to me. Everything was going well, I'm not pushing a lot, I'm there for others, I just didn't understand why that had to happen. "It's ugly and painful and takes three weeks of healing, and this morning I realised that it's so important to stay present, to feel the foundation under your feet. It's normal to be unravelled and you should let it go because if you don't, you're only hurting yourself. "So hear I am, taking this day very differently and really trying to remain in gratitude and understanding that things are fleeting and it's all our choice in how we respond. So, let things go. Don't let your intelligence turn on you. Stay present. You can have your feelings but feel them and let them go. So I wanted to share that with you and also the remedy, besides intelligence: Manuka honey." She shared that she had been putting honey on the burns to stop it being infected. Nicollette added that she did take herself to the emergency room, and that they were pleased with how she was healing up. "I did go to the emergency room the other day and they said 'You're doing a great job, it's not infected, you'll be fine.'" she said. "It's just three weeks. Three weeks hopping around. That's okay." In the caption, she encouraged her fans to "stay present", so that they didn't get hurt like she did. She added: "Live in gratitude. Be aware. Use your intelligence. Choose happiness and kindness..." Fans were quick to send well wishes and messages of support to the actress. "So difficult but so necessary to stay in the moment. Things happen to tell us to take it slow and get grounded, glad you are ok," said one in the comments of Nicollette's post. "What a beautiful message about being present.
