A teenage girl has died after collapsing at a cricket club in Cornwall during a "tragic incident".
Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to Grampound Road Cricket Club near St Austell after it was reported the girl had collapsed.
She has since died after she was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth following the incident on Thursday evening.
In a statement, Grampound Cricket Club said: "It is with profound sadness that Grampound Road Cricket Club can confirm a tragic incident took place on Thursday evening. A teenage girl collapsed and was taken to hospital, but has now sadly died. This is believed to be a medical incident not connected to cricket."
The club chair Lewis Sanders added: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family, friends and everyone who knew and loved her at this unimaginably difficult time. We will respect the family’s privacy and ask others to do the same.
"We would also like to thank all those who responded on Thursday evening, particularly those who provided immediate first aid and the emergency services including the Cornwall Air Ambulance."
Cornwall Live reports two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer and a doctor were sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 20:02hrs on Thursday, August 20, to an incident near St Austell. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a doctor to the scene.
"We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital."
