The blaze is in the Collserola area, close to the Canyelles neighbourhood in Nou Barris, with images from the scene showing flames and smoke billowing into the sky. One person posting on X claimed a high-voltage tower had exploded, although this has yet to be confirmed by authorities. Smoke from the fire was also visible from a Ryanair flight above Barcelona. The fire has broken out at the Collserola mountain range, which sits directly behind and borders the city of Barcelona. Local residents told Metrópoli that the blaze started at around midday (11am UK time) in an area of bushes and scrub near Canyelles. A video shows smoke from the fire rising above Barcelona.
