The supermarket is offering 50% off selected items across the August Bank Holiday for Nectar card holders. Running from Friday, August 28, through to Monday, August 31, the promotion brings significant savings on four popular items — sweetcorn, peppers, mushrooms and mangoes — for customers who scan their Nectar card at the checkout. Richard Crampton, Commercial Director for Fresh and Convenience at Sainsbury's, said the deal was designed to help shoppers eat well without stretching their budgets. "We know customers are looking for great value without compromising on the quality of the food they bring home," he said. "That's why we're offering half-price Nectar Prices on selected fruit and vegetables, making it easier to put fresh, nutritious food on the table over the Bank Holiday weekend and beyond." Among the standout deals on offer, a Sainsbury's Sweetcorn Single Cob drops from 70p to just 35p, while a Taste the Difference Red Sweet Pointed Pepper falls from 75p to 37p. Shoppers after mushrooms can pick up a pack of Sainsbury's White Large Flat Vitamin D Mushrooms 250g for 62p, down from £1.25, and a Sainsbury's Giant Mango is available for 75p, half its usual price of £1.50. Redeeming the discounts could not be easier. In-store shoppers just need to scan their Nectar card at the till, while those ordering online will have the savings applied automatically as long as their Nectar and Sainsbury's accounts are linked. If you are not a member, you still have time to access the deals. Signing up takes only a few minutes if you download the Nectar app or visit the Nectar website to register. Beyond the August Bank Holiday fruit and veg offers, Sainsbury's also has hundreds of Aldi Price Match products available across everyday essentials, giving shoppers further opportunities to cut costs on the weekly shop, reports Birmingham Live. Items on offer include by Sainsbury's Sweetcorn Single Cob, now just 35p with Nectar (70p without Nectar), and Taste the Difference Red Sweet Pointed Pepper, now 37p with Nectar (75p without Nectar). The bank holiday can mean changes to supermarket opening times. Sainsbury's confirmed that the vast majority of its supermarkets will be open from 7am until 8pm on Monday, August 31, while its convenience stores will be open as normal from 7am to 11pm. It also confirmed that the majority of its Argos stores will be open from 9am to 8pm, or in line with the store or centre hours for store-in-store locations on Bank Holiday Monday.
