Iceland and Tesco issue urgent food poisoning caution — 'do not eat' The two supermarkets are among retailers issuing urgent recalls Iceland and Tesco have issued warnings to customers this week as certain products pose serious health risks. Food sold in supermarkets may be contaminated with E. coli, which can cause food poisoning. Recall notices have been issued as a result, as customers have been urged not to eat the products. Meanwhile, a product recall alert has been issued for a popular face wash as it may contain bacteria that is harmful to the skin. Customers must stop using the face wash "immediately". Tesco recall This week, the supermarket has recalled its Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad. The 215g packet has best-before dates of August 25, 26, and 27, 2026, which has now passed yet people may still have the products. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall alert warning customers not to eat the product. It said: "The possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli STEC in the product listed above. "Symptoms caused by STEC organisms include severe diarrhoea with or without blood in the stool, abdominal pain, vomiting, dehydration and sometimes haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal. "If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others." Tesco said: "We’re recalling three date codes of Tesco Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad 215g. This is due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), which can cause illness if eaten. No other products sold at Tesco are affected by this recall." Chicken wraps Summit Foods has recalled the Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (STEC). The recall applies to all use-by dates up to and including September 5, 2026. The FSA has warned people who have bought any of the affected wraps not to eat them and to dispose of them instead. Provide proof of purchase on [email protected], stating when and where it was purchased, for a refund". The Snacksters Chicken Fajita wrap has been sold at Iceland, which has issued a recall notice of its own. Iceland said: "If you have purchased, please dispose of immediately and DO NOT CONSUME then provide proof of purchase on [email protected], stating when and where purchased. Safety and quality is our first priority and we apologise for the inconvenience caused." Simple face wash Major skin care brand Simple has recalled one of its popular products as it may present a "microbiological risk". It means the affected batches may cause eye inflammation. As a result, customers with the products have been urged to stop using them "immediately", and they have been pulled from shelves. The Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water in 200ml, 400ml and 730ml bottles are affected. A recall alert was issued earlier this month for just one size of the cleanser; now more have been added. The recall applies in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Simple said: "We are recalling these products because the safety of the people who buy and use our products is our top priority. Other Simple products are not affected by this issue. We understand that product recalls can be concerning, and we are sorry for any concern or inconvenience this may have caused." Batch codes can be found on the bottom of the bottle.
