Royal Mail warns of 'no deliveries' for UK postcodes in urgent update There will be no delivery or collection of mail Royal Mail has warned postcode areas across the UK that there will be no deliveries or collections made today. The delivery firm has issued an updated message to all UK customers. It aims to post letters and parcels six days a week, with parcel deliveries also taking place on Sundays. However, as of Monday, August 31, there will not be a Royal Mail service due to the Bank Holiday. Royal Mail said: "There will be no deliveries or collections of mail in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland on Monday, August 31 (Summer Bank Holiday)." Detailing where will recieve post in Scotland, it added: "No collections or deliveries except in the following postcode areas: DG13, EH43-EH46, G, HS1-HS3, HS6, KA (excluding 6, 7 and 8), KW15-KW17, ML1-ML12, PA1-PA20, PA22-PA28, PA30-PA35, PA37-38, PA42, PA45, PA60, PH1, PH2, PH14, TD3, TD4-TD6, TD10-TD12, TD14, ZE1-ZE2." Normal Royal Mail service will resume on Tuesday, September 1. Letters and smaller parcels are typically delivered from Monday to Saturday, generally during the course of the working day. How fast an item is delivered will depend on which service has been paid for. Royal Mail says First Class is delivered by the next working day (including Saturdays), while Second Class typically takes two to three working days. Posties can deliver as early as 7am or as late as 4.30pm, giving Brits a rough nine-hour window to expect a knock on the door or their post through the letterbox. The exact timing depends on your local route and the demand. Parcels can be delivered into the evening as Royal Mail’s guidance suggests some packages may arrive as late as around 6pm. In remote areas or during peak periods like Christmas and severe weather, deliveries can be later. Sunday deliveries are not part of Royal Mail’s everyday 'standard' pattern. Yet, some services - such as Tracked 24 - may include Sunday parcel deliveries in certain locations. Deliveries and collections are typically suspended on Bank Holidays across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The next Bank Holiday for England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be Friday, December 25, where mail will be paused once again. Boxing Day is on Saturday, December 26 followed by a substitute day on Monday, December 28, meaning mail won't be delivered or dispatched on those dates either. In Scotland, there are a few more local holidays before Christmas. On Monday, September 21, there will be no collections or deliveries in the KA1-KA5, KA6-KA8 and KA16-KA18 postcode areas. Meanwhile, there will be no collections or deliveries in the G, KA9-KA15, KA19-KA30, KW15-KW17, ML1-ML12, PA1-PA13, PA20-PA28, PA30-35, PA37-38, PA42, PA45, PA60, ZE1-ZE2 postcode areas on Monday, September 28.
