Grandad Gordon Nicholass, 85, suffered a head injury and cuts to the face when he confronted burglars breaking into his Lancashire home, and has now died in hospital
An 85-year-old man has died more than four months after he was injured after he confronted burglars who had broken into the home he shared with his wife.
Grandfather Gordon Nicholass suffered a head injury and cuts to the face after the offenders broke into his home in the village of Helmshore, Lancashire, and assaulted him when he confronted them.
The break-in and assault happened on April 29. Gordon was taken to hospital for his injuries and sent home after treatment but he was taken back to hospital earlier this month and sadly died on August 12, Lancashire Police said.
The force said a postmortem into Gordon’s death has been carried out and further enquiries are now being made to try and establish if the assault was a cause or contributory factor.
