Ex-pop star Gary Glitter pleads not guilty to charges he abused girl from age of eight Gary Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, has pleaded not guilty to eight allegations of sexual abuse against a young girl in the 70s and 80s Former pop star Gary Glitter has pleaded not guilty to abusing a girl for three years starting when she was eight years old in 1978. Glitter, real name Paul Gadd, appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday morning via a videolink from HMP Channings Wood, Devon. He pleaded not guilty to eight counts. Glitter is charged with four counts of indecent assault with a child aged between eight and 11 between 1978 and 1981. He is further accused of two counts of sexual intercourse with a child and two counts of indecency with a child over the same period. Flanked by his solicitor he pleaded guilty to each count after confirming his name. Wearing glasses, a grey beanie hat over his bald head, a blue shirt and with a grey, goatee beard, Glitter responded "absolutely not guilty" and "not guilty" when entering his pleas. The Metropolitan Police previously said the allegations first came to light on January 9 last year, with Glitter interviewed on July 22, 2025, in relation to the investigation.
