Wetherspoons shares opening dates for nine new pubs before Christmas - full list The new venues are at a range of locations across the UK and include airports in the UK and Spain Wetherspoon fans have been given a boost as the pub giant announced opening dates of a string of new venues within weeks. The chain, popular for its low-price food and drink, has already opened a number of new branches recently including The Marshfield Bank Farm House in Crewe,the Sir Frank Whittle at Heathrow Airport, the Sir Ronald Wates at the University of Surrey and Joe's at the University of Birmingham. Now, in a message to customers using its app, the food and drink giant has shared details of more to be added shortly to its portfolio. It said: "Wetherspoon continues to open new pubs. Each pub has its own design, character and personality, based on local history." It added: "Recognised for transforming old buildings into vibrant pubs, Wetherspoon has won numerous design awards." And then, in a notification sent on Wednesday, it went on to share details of nine locations where branches will be opening soon, along with the planned dates for them to start serving. It said these are: - The Red Gown, St Andrews University, opening Friday, September 4, Students’ Association, St Andrew University - The Heath Hotel, Southampton, opening Tuesday, September 8, Beaulieu Road, Dibden Purlieu, Southampton, SO45 4PW - The Belle Vue, Manchester Airport, opening Tuesday, September 15, Terminal 2 (Airside) - The Cranborne Hundred, Ferndown, opening Tuesday, September 29, Ringwood Road, Ferndown BH22 9BB - The Fletton Brick, Bedford, opening Tuesday, September 29, Marsh Leys Cottages, Kempston, MK42 7FY - Piccadilly Hall, Piccadilly, opening Tuesday, October 13, The Trocadero, 30 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 7EP - The William Chambers, Edinburgh, opening Tuesday, November 3, 30a Chambers Street, EH1 1HU - The Benjamin Franklin, Charing Cross, opening Tuesday, November 24, 11 Strand, London WC2N 5HR It has also recently added to its overseas locations with the Castell de Santa Barbara at the Alicante-Eiche Miguel Hernandez Airport and now it is preparing to open another. The Sant Jordi will open at Terminal 1 (Airside - Schengen Area) at Barcelona Airport in November. The JD Wetherspoon chain already operates more than 800 pubs across the UK. Last month, its founder and chairman Sir Tim Martin told the Morning Advertiser: "We are looking forward to opening a number of new pubs across England, Scotland and Spain. We believe the new pubs will be welcomed by customers of all ages."
