Multiple people shot, including 2 officers, in Minneapolis, police say

Multiple people, including two police officers, were injured Wednesday afternoon in a shooting in downtown Minneapolis, officials said. The number of people wounded and their conditions were not immediately clear. “The Minneapolis Police Department is on the scene of a shooting in the area of 15 E Grant St. involving multiple victims, including two police officers,” the city said on social media around 5:10 p.m. local time. Aerial video from NBC affiliate KARE of Minneapolis showed a large police presence, including what appeared to be armored vehicles and SWAT-style officers. Video shot by a person on the ground showed police vehicles with sirens and lights on. The city government told people to avoid a large area of the city that included Loring Park. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said he was aware of the incident and thanked police who were responding to the situation. He said his public safety team was also heading to the area. “Grateful to law enforcement actively working to ensure the safety of our neighbors in Downtown Minneapolis this afternoon,” Walz said on X. “Minnesota is praying for our first responders.” The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in St. Paul said it was responding to the scene.
