Pupils kept indoors after man 'seen with gun' near Glasgow primary school Pupils at a primary school and nursery in Glasgow were told by police to stay indoors as a precaution following a report of a man ‘in possession of a possible firearm’. A primary school and nursery were placed under lockdown after a man was allegedly seen with a gun in the area. Police raced to Queen Margaret Drive in Maryhill, Glasgow, at around 1pm today following a report of a man "in possession of a possible firearm". Pupils at North Kelvinside Primary School and children at Belhaven Nursery School were advised by officers to stay indoors as a precaution. A 58-year-old man has been arrested and a BB gun was recovered from the scene. A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said Police Scotland had asked staff at both schools to keep children indoors as a precaution, but added no-one was at any risk, reports the Daily Record. The force also said enquiries remain ongoing. Parents were asked to collect their children at the normal time from the entrance on Queen Margaret Drive. Images showed police vehicles, including a van, parked along the street on Friday afternoon. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 58-year-old man has been arrested after officers were called to the Maryhill area of Glasgow following a report of man in possession of a possible firearm. "Police were called to the Queen Margaret Drive area at around 12.55pm on Friday, 4 September, 2026. "There have been no reported injuries and there is no wider risk to the public. Enquiries remain ongoing and a BB gun has been recovered."
