Man stabbed to death in Newcastle-under-Lyme after car crash as police launch probe The driver of a Ford Fiesta suffered a fatal stab wound following a two-car collision on Orme Road, in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Friday September 4 - police have now launched a murder investigation Police have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death in the street following a car crash. The driver of a Ford Fiesta suffered a fatal stab wound following a two-car collision on Orme Road, in Newcastle-under-Lyme on Friday September 4. The man, who has not yet been formerly named by police, was rushed to hospital but sadly depsite best efforts of all involved he was promounced dead a short while later. Police are carrying out forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish the circumstances. A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "We’ve launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We were called to a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta and a grey Audi on Orme Road just after 5pm today (Friday 4 September) by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service. "The driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 20s, was found to have injuries deemed consistent with a stab wound. He was taken to hospital, where he sadly died. His next of kin have been informed and specially-trained officers will be supporting them at this difficult time." Detective Inspector Stephen Ward said: “We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to the driver of the vehicle losing his life. The investigation is still at a very early stage and we are in the process of carrying out forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish the circumstances. “We believe this is an isolated incident, but we’ll be increasing patrols in the area to reassure members of the local community.
