Police investigate Shepparton region caravan park death

Emergency services were called following reports a man had been assaulted at a caravan park on Waverley Avenue in Merrigum, 30 kilometres west of Shepparton, about 3:10am Saturday.
When police arrived, they found two men within the caravan park who appeared injured and unresponsive.
Shepparton police provided immediate assistance to the pair and performed CPR on one of the men, but he could not be revived.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a man was taken to hospital by ambulance in a stable condition.
A separate incident took place at the same caravan park in May, when a man was left critically injured after being stabbed during a brawl involving knives.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said Homicide Squad detectives had attended the scene of today's incident and would investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
Officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit will also assess the scene.
