A body of a man believed to be in his 50s has been found in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, with police saying the death occurred days ago
Detectives have launched a murder investigation after the body of a man was discovered in a property on a town high street.
Police officers were called to the building in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 2, after receiving a "concern for welfare" call.
Officers discovered the body of a man in his 50s who they believe died a number of days before he was found.
A forensic postmortem examination took place on Thursday, September 3, at Leicester Royal Infirmary and police then launched a murder investigation.
Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit are leading the investigation.
Detective Inspector Cheryl Thompson, said: "We're in the early stages of establishing how the gentleman died and I would appeal for anyone in the High Street area of Burton Latimer and who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the last week to please contact us as a matter of emergency.”
