A Greek F-4 Phantom fighter jet has crashed during an air show at Tanagra Air Base, near Athens
A Greek F-4 Phantom fighter jet has crashed during an air show near Athens, in front of thousands of spectators.
The crash happened at Tanagra Air Base shortly before 3pm local time (1pm BST) on Saturday during the Athens Flying Week air show, according to Greek public broadcaster ERT.
ERT reported that there was an explosion immediately after the crash.
Video footage showed a column of black smoke rising into the sky a few hundred metres from spectators at the event.
It is not yet known whether the two pilots managed to eject before the crash. There are no immediate reports of injuries among spectators.
