A child has died after being found in UK woodlands.
Sadly, the child was found in cardiac arrest at land in Great Wyrley, Staffordshire.
Staffordshire Police said officers were called to land off Strawberry Lane at around 8.45am on Saturday, September 5, following a report from West Midlands Ambulance Service of a child in cardiac arrest.
Officers attended the scene alongside the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Sadly, the child was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the death are currently being treated as unexplained.
Officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to land off Strawberry Lane, Great Wyrley, at 8.45am today (Saturday 5 September) by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service, who were responding to a report of a child in cardiac arrest.
“Officers attended alongside Midlands Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, the child was pronounced dead by paramedics a short time later.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Officers remain at the scene.”
