Australia's Eleanor Patterson has continued her outstanding season by winning the women's high jump at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. Patterson was joined on the podium by fellow Australian and reigning world champion, Nicola Olyslagers, who finished third. The result gave Australia two victories across the weekend at the King Baudouin Stadium, following Cameron Myers's triumph in the men's 1,500m on the opening night. Patterson successfully cleared 2.01 metres with her final attempt at the height, edging out Ukrainian Olympic champion and world-record holder, Yaroslava Mahuchikh (1.99m). Mahuchikh failed with her three attempts at 2.01m. Olyslagers cleared 1.95m to round out the top-three placings. Patterson attempted 2.03m, which is the same height as Mahuchikh's 2026 world lead, but could not manage a successful clearance. She added the Diamond League Final title to her second Commonwealth Games gold, which she won in Glasgow in late July. Her win came a week after she equalled her personal best (PB) of 2.02m in Germany. "It's amazing," Patterson said. "I've only won a Diamond League meet once before in 2023, so to win the final is insane. I knew I was in good shape after jumping 2.02m a few days ago. "It was chilly, but I just went out to have fun and I'm super happy with how today turned out." Patterson said ignoring the performances of her rivals was the key to victory. "Today, I stayed clinical and stuck to my own process, which really paid off," she said. Australia's Olympic silver medallist Jessica Hull was third in the women's 1,500m, producing a season-best time of 3:54.73. "It's nice to run the fastest I have all year in September, I think that shows my training works when you want to peak this time of the year," Hull said. Poland's Klaudia Kazimierska saluted with a world-leading time and meet record of 3:54.05, which was also a PB. Kenyan Dorcus Ewoi was second in a PB of 3:54.73, while Hull's Australian teammate Abbey Caldwell (3:57.19) finished seventh. Meanwhile, Australia's Sarah Billings was fifth in the women's 800m with a time of 1.59.99. Swiss star Audrey Werro claimed the meet record in winning with 1:54.75.
