Noel Gallagher in tears as Oasis film receives standing ovation at Venice premiere The Gallagher brothers caused chaos at the Venice Film Festival with a fan frenzy, laughter and tears in an unforgettable night Noel Gallagher was overcome with emotion as the new Oasis film received an incredible eight minute standing ovation at its world premiere. The guitarist and songwriter was earlier laughing and joking on the red carpet for Disney+’s Don’t Look Back In Anger with brother Liam and took time to sign dozens of autographs for fans. But after the two-hour documentary was screened and fans showed their appreciation and love for the band’s reunion tour, Noel could be seen wiping tears from his eyes. The pair were both in smart black outfits with Liam even wearing a black suit jacket, in keeping with the formal dress code of the festival. Taking their seats in the main Sala Grande cinema there were also cheers, chants and applause, leading Liam to shout ‘Grazie’ in response. During the standing ovation Liam also broke with tradition to leave his seat and sign more autographs for fans, much to their delight, as well as raising the arm of his brother and the film creator Steven Knight and directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. The brothers looked closer than ever before in Venice this weekend, a far cry from the scenes at the start of Don’t Look Back in anger when they began rehearsals and were barely on speaking terms. And a world away from how they would behave on stage in the run up to their split in 2009. Even by the end of the film in their joint interview recorded some months ago, the pair are seen laughing and joking in scenes which will delight fans, and that also bode well for the 2027 Oasis tour which will be announced imminently. Noel said: “All the little things that used to annoy us about each other have suddenly all gone away, it’s not a power struggle now, we’ve come out now as equals. We never used to text each much but now we text each other stupid videos like mates would. We’re in contact more than we ever were. “It was all forgiven without saying a word. I use this word to describe what he has been like, a word I never thought I would use to describe him, which is delightful.” He added: “This tour fixed a lot of things.” For his part Liam also seems to admit some mistakes and speaking out of turn and he says: “The music brought us back together. Oasis man. Oasis saves.” He adds: “It feels like a weight has been lifted.” The Mirror can also reveal Noel speaks about crying in the film, when discussing his Irish roots. He admits the Irish Oasis fans made him burst into tears before he even got onto the stage last year. The gigs in Dublin were particularly poignant for the Gallaghers as lots of their extended family came to the shows, as well as their beloved mum Peggy. Noel said: “Both our parents are Irish, both our grandparents, we are Irish apart from geographically so we are feeling it. “I was moved to tears backstage, both me and Bonehead actually when we came onto the Luke Kelly song[The Auld Triangle]. The crowd were singing it and it is one of my favourite songs of all time. It was a really special moment.” Noel also speak about another section of fans in the film and says he believes Oasis have finally won over America, decades after they first tried to crack the States. He adds: “When we finished the British leg we all said ‘that’s been amazing, America might be a bit lukewarm’.
