The deaths come a year after a gruesome murder took place at the event, with a reveller found stabbed to death inside a tent. Craig Mann, 60, was found dead on Saturday afternoon by his campmates at Black Rock City, festival organisers have said. Burning Man said: “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant’s family, friends, campmates, and all those affected by this loss.” Mr Mann’s cause of death has not yet been revealed. The grim discovery came after a man in his mid-50s suffered a medical emergency and passed away on Thursday. He was given treatment immediately before being rushed to the festival’s onsite emergency care centre, however he was later pronounced dead. Burning Man said after that incident: “It is with heavy hearts that Burning Man Project confirms a Black Rock City participant in his mid-50s experienced a medical emergency, immediately received lifesaving measures, and was transported to the onsite centre for emergency care where he was pronounced deceased.” This year’s festival has seen heavy rains sweep the nine-day event, with organisers forced to close the main entrance and exit as downpours hit Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Attendees were told not to drive amid the treacherous conditions, while those not yet on-site were told to delay their journeys on Friday. The two deaths come as the gory murder that rocked the gathering last year remains unsolved. Russian Vadim Kruglov, 37, was found in a pool of blood inside a tent after being stabbed in the neck. The slaying marked the first murder in the festival’s history. Cops are still working through evidence and remain in contact with Mr Kruglov’s family, but investigators have said they do not currently have enough evidence to identify a suspect. At the time of the stabbing, Burning Man organisers said: “Our hearts go out to Vadim’s family and friends, and we grieve the loss of a community member. “Burning Man Project is doing everything we can to assist the sheriff’s investigation so the perpetrator can be caught and brought to justice.”
