Emergency medical personnel helped several patients and staff members after a fire broke out at a hospital in Argentina.
The cause of the fire on the afternoon of Monday, September 7, at Braulio Aurelio Moyano Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Barracas, Buenos Aires, is unclear.
According to reports, 50 patients were treated on site and two were transferred to other hospitals.
Firefighters from the city were working at the a 17-hectare property and the operation involves 16 Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) mobile units.
The hospital has almost 1,500 beds for and 37 assistance services.
In May 2024, a fire broke out at the same hospital.
Flames spread through the second-floor attic, causing part of the structure to collapse, according to reports.
Sixty-six patients were evacuated in the incident.
Questions were raised about the hospital's conditions, maintenance and the budget allocated to the establishment.
This is a breaking story. More to follow.
