The funeral of King Oyo, who ascended the throne in 1995 when he was aged just three, is set to take place this weekend. King Oyo was Uganda's youngest reigning monarch and his body was flown back to Uganda after his death. The young monarch had been receiving treatment for an aggressive form of cancer. George was selected by the committee to be the next king on Friday, with 15 out of 18 members picking the London-based footballer, according to Ugandan reports. He has a wife and son. The goalkeeper, who is a British citizen, is reportedly reluctant to leave London and take up the calling, according to local press. George's father was the second son of Uganda's former monarch His Majesty King George Rukidi III. The late-monarch welcomes the late-Queen Elizabeth II during he royal tour of Uganda in 1954. George is yet to comment publicly on his possible new royal role, far from his football and goalkeeping. While the funeral for King Oyo is set to take place this weekend, George's Bexleyheath-based team however has a football match that clashes. The non-league could be forced to play without their captain against Greenways, based in Gravesend, Kent, on Friday in the second round of FA Vase qualifiers.
