Met Office reveals when heavy rain will end as temperatures rise this weekend The Met Office says dry conditions are expected on Wednesday following heavy rain today, ahead of a warmer weekend when temperatures are forecast to hit 24C Sunny spells and dry conditions are set to return to the UK tomorrow - before temperatures climb to 24C on Friday. The Met Office said Wednesday will be "largely dry" with "plenty of sunny spells" after a drier night on Tuesday, which was particularly wet for London, south-east and north-west England, as well as northern and western Scotland. Temperatures on Wednesday are expected to be around or slightly below average for the time of year. Another band of rain will move in on Thursday before drier and brighter weather returns on Friday, with highs of 24C expected in southern parts of the UK on Friday and Saturday. Met Office meteorologist Clare Nasir said Wednesday morning will be cool and breezy, particularly across eastern England and eastern Scotland, where some showers are expected. There will also be some morning showers further west, including across the West Country, with a few filtering into the Isle of Man, Wales, and the north and north-west of Northern Ireland. However, Ms Nasir added that a ridge of high pressure will come in from the west through the morning, bringing brighter weather and a lighter breeze across much of England and Wales, Northern Ireland, as well as Scotland. While a brisk breeze may continue across eastern counties in the afternoon, any showers will tend to fade away. For most places, it will be a dry and bright afternoon, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, feeling "pleasantly warm" in the sunshine, Ms Nasir said. Temperatures are expected to reach 16C to 18C across Scotland and Northern Ireland, rising to 20C or 21C, and perhaps 22C, across more central and southern parts of England and Wales. Ms Nasir said Wednesday evening and overnight will be cool again, followed by a "fine start" to Thursday. Thickening clouds, however, will bring some showery bursts of rain and stronger winds to western Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Met Office said drier and brighter weather will return on Friday, with highs of 24C expected in parts of the south and around 20C in the north. On Saturday, daytime temperatures are expected to remain similar, with 24C possible in parts of the south and 19C in the north.
