Driver rushed to hospital after 'failing to stop' before police chase crash A man is in hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle collided head-on with another car during a police pursuit in Derbyshire on Tuesday A man has been seriously injured in a collision during a police pursuit. Derbyshire Police said the crash happened shortly after 12.15pm on Tuesday while officers were pursuing a Volkswagen Golf that had allegedly failed to stop on the A6007 in Heanor, located around eight miles north-east of Derby. The Golf, which was travelling towards Ilkeston, collided with a Volkswagen T-Cross travelling in the opposite direction at Hardy Barn in Shipley. The driver of the Golf suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains, police said. The driver and passenger of the T-Cross did not suffer serious injuries. A Ford Fiesta was also damaged by debris from the collision. Derbyshire Police is appealing for information from an elderly man who was walking his dog and was almost hit by the Golf as he crossed the road between Ilkeston Hospital and Shipley Park Garden Centre. The force will make a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as the collision occurred during a police pursuit and resulted in serious injury. The dog-walker, or anyone with information about the incident, is asked to contact police by using the online contact form on the force's website, by sending a private message to the Derbyshire Constabulary Facebook page or by calling 101.
