People who want to prepare their wardrobes for autumn, especially as temperatures drop and more rain hits, might want to check out Lidl's new Special Buy. A fresh collection of clothes will be available in stores from Thursday, September 17, as part of an upcoming Middle Aisle update.
For £7.99, Lidl is releasing an Esmara Ladies' Cardigan in two colours: beige and black. Many people enjoy wearing cardigans around this time of year as their open-front design makes it easy to adjust to changing daily temperatures.
Lidl's Esmara Ladies' Cardigan comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. It is made with a thick knit fabric and dual-tone buttons down the front, with a 'relaxed' fit.
The product description on Lidl's website reads: "In a chunky textured knit. With stylish buttons. Loose fit with dropped shoulders."
Some customers may think the cardigan looks more luxurious than its price suggests, as retailers such as John Lewis and Next offer pricier versions that resemble Lidl's. For anyone who loves the high-end look but doesn't want to spend too much, Lidl's more affordable choice might catch their eye.
John Lewis is selling a Constance Cotton Blend V-Neck Cardigan by Reiss for almost £150. The cardigan, which costs £148, shares features similar to Lidl's version, including a chunky knit, dual-tone buttons and a loose fit.
The product description reads: "This fine-knit cardigan from Reiss features a linen blend that feels cool against the skin, offering lightweight warmth for transitional days. Its V-neck and button fastening give a neat finish that slips easily into both relaxed and smart looks."
Besides the price, the main differences are the material. Lidl's is 100% acrylic, and John Lewis' Reiss version is 45% cotton, 33% linen, 22% polyester, and the fact that Lidl's cardigan has an extra button.
The exact same Reiss cardigan is also available at Next for the same price, with a silver grey option up for grabs, as well as the beige version. Similar to the John Lewis product description, Next adds: "The Neutral Constance cardigan is crafted from a cotton-linen blend in an airy open knit, shaped to a slightly boxy silhouette with a V-neckline and relaxed raglan sleeves."
Sizes range from extra small to extra large. It is down to shoppers to decide which design they prefer and how much they would like to spend.
