Olivia Oras passed out while she was given local anaesthesia and pre-surgery medication ahead of liposuction. The procedure was going to take place at Plastic Surgery Center in Helsinki, Finland. Olivia died on September 3 at Helsinki University Hospital, where she was transferred from the private clinic. Officers are now investigating the death of the social media star as aggravated negligent homicide. Yesterday, the Helsinki Police Department said a request to investigate the death was received three days prior. The force said: "The investigation is in its early stages and there is no further information to share at this time." Olivia's parents, artist Johanna Oras and art dealer Reijo Oras, told Finnish news outlet Yle MOT that the young woman lost consciousness during anaesthesia prior to her procedure at the private clinic. Helsinki University Hospital said private hospitals are responsible for the care of their own patients and usually arrange transfers using private ambulance services. Private clinics are, however, able to request assistance from the hospital in urgent cases. The clinic remains open, with appointments available to book for a variety of plastic and cosmetic procedures. Staff members' profiles have been removed, however, from the clinic's website following media reports of Olivia's death. Olivia started her social media career at 14, when she launched her Instagram account. Her experience with social media then became the subject of the 2017 documentary, The Perfect Selfie.
