The Queensland grazier and coal miner was convicted by a jury last week, who found him guilty of three counts of murder and an attempted murder at Bogie.
A four-week Supreme Court trial in Townsville heard that Young shot four neighbours, killing three, at the gate of his cattle station in 2022.
On Monday, he received three life sentences for the murders, with a 40-year non-parole period.
Justice Christopher Johnstone's sentence is believed to be the longest ever handed down in Queensland.
