A man is in custody, charged with attempted murder, over a shooting on the NSW Central Coast that left another man with multiple gunshot injuries. Bison Zounis, 20, is accused of breaking into a home at Berkeley Vale on Wednesday morning and shooting a 37-year-old man, leaving him with gunshot wounds to the torso and hand. The victim, who has been cooperating with police, remains in hospital in a stable condition. NSW Police Raptor Squad Commander Detective Acting Superintendent Brad Abdy said it did not appear the two men were known to each other. Police will allege Mr Zounis was hired to carry out the shooting. "We don't believe there was any prior connection between these two people and it's most likely a crime as a service-type crime,"Acting Superintendent Abdy said. It is unclear whether the incident is linked to a spate of recent shootings in Sydney. "Whether there's gang involvement or organised crime involvement, they're areas that we're exploring," Acting Superintendent Abdy said. A motive is yet to be determined. No bail application Mr Zounis was arrested at Gosford train station on Thursday morning, where he was allegedly in possession of drugs including cannabis and cocaine. Police tracked a car seen by witnesses at the time of the shooting, before identifying him. "We tracked that back to Penrith. Following inquiries there, we were able to identify this man as a suspect," Acting Superintendent Abdy said. "He was subsequently followed to Newcastle and then to Gosford where he was arrested." It is alleged a search of his Penrith home uncovered items including a Glock pistol and eight rounds of ammunition. With the Berkeley Vale shooting one of a number in NSW this week, Acting Superintendent Abdy said the swift arrest of a suspect should address some community concerns. "This event demonstrates that police will do everything they can to identify these criminals and arrest them and put them before the court, he said. "There's police every single minute of every day on the streets of Sydney trying to prevent these types of crimes before they occur." Mr Zounis is facing 10 charges including shoot with intent to murder. He did not appear in the bail court when the charges were briefly mentioned and no application for bail was made on his behalf. The matter has been adjourned until November.
