Faiza Hassan, 36, is accused of killing the toddler on 9 April 2023 following an incident at a property on Castle Hill. Emergency services were called to the address by paramedics at around 5:20 pm, but the child was pronounced dead later that day. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed the girl had died after suffering a series of injuries. Following a long-running investigation, West Midlands Police has confirmed that both the girl's mother and grandmother have been charged with multiple offences. The police service, which refrained from naming the child, said: “Following a thorough investigation, her mother and grandmother have now been charged with multiple offences. “As well as murder, Faiza Hassan, of Dudley, faces eight charges of wounding with intent, between 1 November 2022 and 9 April 2023.: She has also been charged with child cruelty against the 17-month-old girl and child cruelty against a second child between the same five-month period. Her mother, 61-year-old Sahra Hassan, of Walsall, is accused of allowing the death of the toddler and child cruelty. Both defendants appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 10 September. Faiza Hassan was remanded in custody, while Sahra Hassan was granted conditional bail. Both women are scheduled to reappear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 9 October.
