Man, 26, dies after being hit by ambulance as police investigate horror collision A 26-year-old man has died after he was hit by an East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) vehicle in Myrtle Road, Sheffield A 26-year-old man has tragically lost his life after he was hit by an ambulance in a horror collision now being investigated by police. The man was given CPR at the scene but was sadly pronounced dead. South Yorkshire Police said his family are being supported by officers in the wake of the tragedy. The East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) vehicle was involved in the incident at 6.41pm on Wednesday in Myrtle Road, Sheffield. A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Myrtle Road, Sheffield. It is reported that a man was involved in a collision with an ambulance. "Medical staff performed CPR on the 26-year-old man, but he sadly died at the scene. Officers attended and the driver of the ambulance remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries. The man's family is being supported by officers following this tragic incident." EMAS has expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and said it was fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation. Craig Whyles, EMAS's NHS Trust divisional director for Derbyshire, said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died, and with everyone affected by this tragic incident. "Support is available for our colleagues, and we are co-operating fully with the police investigation. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage while enquiries are ongoing."
