Princess Kate has frequently spoken of her three young children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - and how she and Prince William are bringing up the future royal generation while establishing crucial boundaries, all while balancing their own duties within the Firm.
Yet despite the demands of raising their kids under the public spotlight, the devoted parents are understood to place emphasis on honest dialogue, a peaceful environment, and compassion with their young ones. And while they, like countless parents, hope their children will thrive academically, Kate is placing another significant quality she believes is important for her children.
It seems that embedding strong moral principles into George, Charlotte, and Louis sits at the top of Kate and William's parenting agenda. "My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect and honesty and I realise how central values like these have been to me throughout my life," Kate previously said.
"That is why William and I want to teach our little children... just how important these things are as they grow up. In my view, it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport."
Kate's recent struggle with cancer has only strengthened those fundamental values, as she stated in a video in 2024 announcing the conclusion of her cancer treatment: "This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved."
In 2023, the princess also opened up to radio presenter Roman Kemp about the difficulties of modern parenthood, acknowledging that raising children today is 'tough'.
"It's not about the number of toys they've got or the number or sort of trips that you go on with them," said Kate, a fervent champion of early years development. "It's just making sure that they've got the right emotional support around them, and that comes from the adults in their lives."
Prince William also discussed their family unit in a candid interview with Eugene Levy on the Apple TV show The Reluctant Traveller in October, revealing how Kate's cancer battle tested their family, while admitting they are "constantly learning and adapting".
He said: "Everyone has their own coping mechanisms for these sorts of things, and children are constantly learning and adapting. We try to make sure we give them the security and the safety that they need."
The heir to the throne continued: "We're a very open family, so we talk about things that bother us, and things that trouble us, but you never quite know the knock-on effects that it can have. It's just important to be there for each other and to kind of reassure the children that everything is okay."
Despite enduring such a gruelling year, William made clear his determination to push through - and was full of admiration for his nearest and dearest.
He said: "You know life is sent to test us as well and it definitely can be challenging at times, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are. You know, I'm so proud of my wife and my father, for how they've handled all of last year. My children have managed brilliantly as well."
