Man seriously injured after wrong-way crash on motorway This is the latest incident amid a spate of tragic road collisions with vehicles driving the wrong way down the road - Bookmark A man has been seriously injured after two cars were involved in a wrong-way crash on the M1. West Yorkshire Police issued an appeal on Saturday after responding to a collision shortly after 11pm on Friday on the M1 northbound, near junction 41, where a blue Kia Proceed was driven the wrong way up the carriageway. The force said the vehicle failed to stop for police and collided with a red Dacia Sandero. The driver of the Dacia, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are being treated as potentially life-changing. One person left the scene, and three passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. An 18-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were all arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They remain in custody while enquiries are ongoing. The 30-year-old woman was further arrested for being over the prescribed limit. The force asked anyone who witnessed the collision, including anyone who may have dashcam or other video footage of the incident, to contact West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit by calling 101 or quoting reference 13260519370 online. Information can also be provided to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously. The incident comes after social media platforms were warned to remove dangerous driving content on their platforms amid a spate of “tragic” road crashes in the UK and Ireland. This “brought renewed attention to concerns about content on video-sharing platforms that promotes dangerous driving”, according to Dame Caroline Dinenage, chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee. Five young people died when their vehicle was driven the wrong way along a dual carriageway and hit a police car on a dual carriageway in Teesside last month, killing the two officers inside. That same month, five teenagers were killed in a crash on the M9 in Kildare after a car was driven the wrong way down the road. Three sisters and a young boy were injured in the incident.
