A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a man was hospitalised in a "chemical substance" incident in Crawley
A woman has been arrested after a man was rushed to hospital in Crawley with injuries from a "chemical substance" incident.
Emergency services rushed to a property in Fletcher Close, Southgate, at around 5.10am this morning where a 40-year-old man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital.
A woman, also aged 40, was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and police said she was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A police cordon was put in place on Fletcher Close while emergency services remained at the scene as part of an investigation.
In a statement from Sussex Police, the force said that there is not thought to be a wider threat to the public following the incident involving a chemical substance.
No further details have been given so far from police about what type of chemical substance was involved or how serious are the injuries to the man.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services responded to an incident involving a chemical substance which took place at an address in Fletcher Close, Southgate, Crawley on Sunday 13 September at around 5.10am.
“There is no wider risk to the public.
“A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries, and a 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. She has been taken to hospital as a precaution.
“A temporary road closure was in place in Fletcher Close while emergency services remained at the scene.”
